Molly is an absolute catch. While she’s similar to Wallace, our other Monstera adansonii, the fenestrations (windows) in her leaves are exaggerated, making her more textural and patterned. With her long stems trained up a moss pole, Molly’s leaves are on full display, mimicking her natural climbing habit up the trunks of trees in the jungles of South America. This limited-edition monstera lends a full, lush, tropical energy to any indoor space.
Monstera adansonii is a relative of the larger Swiss Cheese plant, Chaz. It has the same irregular leaves but they’re smaller and more delicate. In the jungles of Central and South America, it grows in the shade of other trees and has evolved those holes in its leaves to let the light shine through to its lower canopy.
Its jungly origins give us some good clues as to what conditions to try and mimic in our own homes if we want our plant to thrive. Think dappled, filtered light, warm, humid air free from cold draughts, and light watering with room temperature water. Over spring and summer, we have no doubt Molly will appreciate a monthly feed with liquid fertiliser too.

Did you know?
Monstera adansonii’s common name Monkey Mask plant comes from its apparent resemblance to a monkey’s face. We’re not sure the person who named it had ever seen a monkey.
