• About Citrus calamondin

  Lionel the Citrus calamondin is a happy blend of a Kumquat and a Mandarin orange tree, which produces heavily scented leaves, beautiful flowers and lots of fruit. Like most citrus plants, Lionel absolutely loves the sun, so place him in your brightest spot. He prefers his soil moist, which can mean watering him every couple of days during the height of summer. He’ll need less in the colder months. 

  He’s a fair weather plant, so keep him indoors during autumn and winter, and pop him back outside when spring arrives. Depending on the time of year, your tree may arrive without fruit, but if you give him enough warmth and sun he should flower and fruit from spring.

  When it comes time to repot your tree – every 2 to 3 years – be sure to use a loam-based compost like John Innes No.3, which will have the perfect balance of drainage and moisture-retentive goodies like sand and clay.
