This brightly coloured plant is a real showstopper. Native to South East Asia, where it dwells in the dappled light cast by giant, tropical trees, it was brought to the UK in the late 1800s and has been a much-loved houseplant ever since.
With pink stems and vibrant red patches on her leaves, Aggie is particularly beautiful, though she’s not the only one in her family who stands out from the crowd – there are lots of different varieties of Aglaonema, all in different colours. In fact, the plant takes its name from its variegated foliage – Aglaonema comes from the Greek ‘Aglos’, meaning bright, and ‘nema’, meaning thread.
The good news is this colourful plant is very easy to look after. She’ll tolerate pretty much any light condition, though her vibrant leaves will look all the brighter the more light she receives. She also needs very little water, making her a dream for forgetful plant parents. Give her a feed with liquid fertiliser once a month in spring and summer to help her foliage flourish.
This bundle includes our much-loved Ceramic glazed pot in Blue. It’s hand-moulded and finished with a special glaze that crackles as it’s fired, leaving it with a fine, cracked effect (don’t worry, it’s surface detail and doesn’t impact the structure of the pot).
When watering your plants, always remove them from the decorative pot first and allow any excess water to drain completely before putting the plant back in the pot. Due to the nature of the material, excess water may escape.
