You’ll know Ollie as a Mediterranean plant, but he can live very happily in the UK too. The secret is sunshine: he can’t get enough of it. Place him in a bright spot to keep him happy, and water him when his soil has completely dried out. Though it’s very unlikely he’ll produce olives (it’s not quite warm enough here), you may be rewarded with little white flowers in summer.
We’ve paired this little Olive tree with our classic Terracotta pot. Made in Italy from porous clay, it comes complete with a saucer to catch any excess water. When it comes to repotting your Olive tree (we recommend doing so every two-to-three years), be sure to use a loam-based compost like John Innes No.3, which will have a good balance of drainage and moisture-retentive goodies like sand and clay.
