  • Kate & Blue Bubble pot likes...

    • Light watering

She’s not very thirsty. You can let her soil fully dry between drinks. Water very lightly in autumn and winter.

    • Bright light

She loves a spot that gets lots of light, but not too much direct sun. A bright room, but away from a window, is ideal.

    • Feeding

You’ll see those wiggly stems grow quicker if you give her a cactus feed once a month in spring and summer.

  • You’ll find this Fishbone cactus growing in Mexico, where it likes to dangle from the branches of trees and enjoys the hot, humid climate. In the wild it grows edible fruit, which taste a bit like kiwis.

While it’s unlikely to grow fruit in your home, it will bring plenty of character to your space. Called a Fishbone cactus, Zig Zag cactus and Rik Rak cactus thanks to its wiggly stems, it’s a really fun plant that grows quickly in the right conditions. It’s also really low maintenance, making it a great option for beginners. Place it in a bright spot with indirect light, and water it when the soil is completely dry, and it will be happy. If you’re lucky, you might see it flowering – it blooms in autumn, after dark and for one night only. Talk about dramatic.

We’ve paired this Fishbone cactus with our bestselling blue Bubble pot, which has wavy edges and a smooth glossy finish.

When watering your plants, always remove them from the decorative pot first and allow any excess water to drain completely before putting the plant back in the pot. Due to the nature of the material, excess water may escape.
