• About ZZ plants

  If you’re a first-time plant parent, or just a little hands-off with your approach to plant care, Cassie is the one for you. She’s one of our (almost) unkillables, and is as easy-going as they come. Though she’s native to central Africa, she’s very tolerant of the UK climate and requires little attention. Her tuberous roots and thick stems have evolved to store lots of water, which means you only need to give her a drink when her soil has run completely dry. She can also cope with any light condition, from sunshine to shade, making her a great choice for low-light rooms.

  After a couple of years, Cassie will appreciate being repotted into a pot that’s one or two sizes bigger, using a free-draining jungle mix. This will give her room to grow, and top up her nutrients. In the meantime, you can feed her with liquid fertiliser once a month in spring and summer.
