  • Cassie & Black Bubble pot likes...

    • Light watering

She doesn’t need a lot of water, particularly in winter. You can let her dry out completely between drinks.

    • Feeding

She’ll love you if you feed her with a liquid fertiliser about once a month (no more than that) in spring and summer.

    • Most light conditions

She’s an ideal option if you don’t have bright rooms. She’ll cope with very little light, though not total darkness.

  • Cassie is one of the most easy-going plants in our collection – in fact, she’s pretty much unkillable. Though she hails from central Africa, she’s adapted pretty well to life here in the UK and makes for an excellent housemate. ZZ plants are able to live in almost any light condition (except total darkness), so this is a good option for homes with shadier spaces. And as she’s evolved to store water in her tuberous roots and thick stems, she won’t need watering very often at all – just give her a drink when her soil is completely dry.

After a few years, you’ll want to repot Cassie into a pot that’s at least one or two sizes bigger, using a free-draining jungle mix. This will give her room to grow, and top up her nutrients. In the meantime, you can give her a feed with liquid fertiliser once a month in spring and summer.

We’ve paired Cassie’s waxy foliage with our bestselling Bubble pot, which has wavy edges and a smooth, glossy finish.

When watering your plants, always remove them from the decorative pot first and allow any excess water to drain completely before putting the plant back in the pot. Due to the nature of the material, excess water may escape.
