    • Regular watering

To prevent Albie from drying out and dropping needles, give them a regular drink. You’ll know they’re thirsty when the top two inches of their soil is dry.

    • Bright light

Albie prefers a spot that gets plenty of sunlight, even if it’s in the morning or late afternoon.

    • Humidity

There’s no need to mist Albie but avoid putting them close to a radiator or active fireplace where the hot dry air will stress them out.

  • Picea glauca is a smart little conifer with sturdy branches covered in rosettes of green needles – they sound lethal but it’s just the name for the leaves of conifers like spruce trees. This ready-potted, UK-grown tree will look just as great indoors for Christmas as it will in a pot in your garden for the rest of the year. It’s really slow growing so there’s no fear of it doubling in size between festive seasons, making it easy enough to bring back in when decoration time begins. If you don’t have space for your tree outside, we encourage you to donate or recycle it.

Pine trees can go into shock if they’re suddenly moved from a cold outdoor to a warm indoor environment, so we recommend slowly introducing your tree to your home, or giving it a few days to settle in. You’ll know it’s stressed out a bit if it sheds. Keep it regularly watered and it’ll soon perk up.

Your Alberta spruce will come wrapped in a cosy hessian bag with a ribbon. You can keep it in the bag but maybe slip a dish underneath the plastic nursery pot to catch any water. When it comes to watering it, lightly loosen the ribbon and water the soil evenly before tying it back up again. Alternatively you can pop it in a decorative pot.

Level up your tree with some fairy lights and baubles.

    Did you know?

The Alberta white spruce is native to the Rocky Mountains, with some of the most mature trees being 300 years old.
