Laid-back Cassie is a dream houseplant. Though she hails from central Africa, she’s adapted pretty well to the UK climate and is a breeze to take care of. She’ll tolerate any light condition, from sunshine to shade, and, because she stores water in her tuberous roots and thick stems, you won’t need to water her very often. Let her dry out completely between drinks – she’ll need even less during winter. There’s a reason she’s one of our (almost) unkillable plants.
Cassie will be happy in her nursery pot initially, but will need repotting after a couple of years. Rehome her in a pot at least one or two sizes bigger, using a free-draining jungle mix. This will help her grow, and top up her nutrients. In the meantime, give her a feed with liquid fertiliser once per month in spring and summer.
We’ve paired Cassie’s sculptural stems with our bestselling Bubble pot, which has a curved silhouette and a smooth, glossy finish.
When watering your plants, always remove them from the decorative pot first and allow any excess water to drain completely before putting the plant back in the pot. Due to the nature of the material, excess water may escape.
