About Holly

Though originating from Eastern China and Japan, Holly has made her name closer to home as the must-have alternative to the often problematic Buxus. As well as the minimal maintenance required for Holly, her compact glossy leaves will keep your space looking green throughout the year.

Current height including plastic pot: 30cm
Maximum height: 50-60cm

Holly is a slow growing topiary ball with small oval-shaped, glossy green leaves and small white flowers and black fruits that follow in summer.

In an ideal world, Holly would opt for a sunny, sheltered spot but she doesn't mind some shade for part of the day too.

Harsh, cold winds so make sure she's sheltered from the elements in the winter months.

Looking after this plant

Holly is a very unfussy - all she asks for is regular watering to keep her soil moist and a nice trim of her leaves between April-May to keep her looking prim.

Living with pets and children

Her berries can cause mild stomach upset if eaten.
