A sunny spot
Wild flowers need sun to thrive so plant your seeds somewhere nice and bright.
Keep the soil well watered to help the seeds germinate and grow. Especially important if growing in pots.
When your flowers are large enough, you can cut them to make floral arrangements indoors.
When you cut your flowers, make sure to cut them right at the base of the stem. This will encourage new flowers to grow in their place.
Possibility of varieties that are toxic to pets
About wildflower seeds
Lots of bees, butterflies and other pollinators are a sign of a healthy garden. Sowing wild flowers is a great way to tempt loads of pollinators into your outdoor space. Each seed packet contains a mixture of over 40 different wild flowers (no grass seed), including cornflowers, oxeye daisies, borage and foxgloves.
Sowing is really simple. Just sprinkle the seed onto soil and lightly cover with more soil (if planting in containers) or simply rake over (if planting on the ground). If you’re planting directly into a garden, one seed packet will cover about 2m². Water them weekly and you should start seeing shoots within 2-3 weeks.
For best results, sow your seeds before the end of June. You should then get flowers until autumn. Flowers take about 90 days to mature and you can pick them as and when you like to make your own floral arrangements.
If sown on the ground your wildflowers will return year after year, turning your garden into a pollinator paradise.
