About Gerry

Gerry is a delightful imposter. Known commonly as a Geranium, he's actually a Pelargonium. But he doesn't trick anyone in to loving him thanks to his easy-to-grow habit and long flowering period. As a youngster, his stem will be fuzzy, but will become sturdier and woodier as he gets older and grows taller.

How to care for Gerry (Pelargonium)

The basics

Gerry has succulent leaves which enable him to store more water than most plants, with this in mind keep Gerry's soil well-drained - place some drainage pebbles under the soil in his pot and ensure not to over water him.

Being used to the warm climates of South Africa, Gerry does best in a sunny spot and can even handle a reasonable amount of wind.

He gets hungry with all those flowers, and will need a nutritious snack to keep him going. Try our plant feed.

Going the extra mile

You can multiply Gerry by cutting him up into several little plants, each with at least one leaf attached. Then, plant the little guys in soil and wait for them to flower in spring.

Over Winter, he'll continue to bloom sporadically but make sure to cut him right back at the turn of the year to encourage good growth for the upcoming season.
