Too much sun will burn his leaves. Too little and new growth will be weak. He’s happiest with indirect, moderate light.
As we all do, he needs moisture to keep him looking fresh. He’ll love bathroom humidity, or mist him every other day.
In the warmer months, but not winter, give him a feed with diluted fertiliser once every four weeks or so.
While he likes his leaves misted, he likes the top two inches of his soil to dry out between waterings.
If he’s growing well, he may need repotting every two or three years. To see if he’s ready to go up a size, check our guide to repotting.

About Corn Plants
Native tribes of northern Tanzania and Mt. Kilimanjaro used Corn Plants to mark sacred sites as far back as 1000 BC. So this is a plant deserving of some respect.
While they might grow as high as six metres in the wild, indoors Corn Plants are more about character than size, providing a bit of tropical flavour even on grey days. If they’re really happy, they might reward you by growing small, white flowers. To keep yours in a good mood, remember: generous with the misting, sparing with the watering.
Rick the Corn Plant is the same family as Nick, and requires exactly the same care. He’s just got slightly more showy leaves.
