About Milly

Milly has been a favourite friend in the British garden since she arrived from Asia in the 1730s and it's no surprise why - in the midst of winter when little else is in bloom, Milly's delicate white flowers will be the first flowering plant to breathe life into your space and will continue to bloom right through the spring.

Milly's leathery leaves will keep their verdant green throughout the year and her flowers will be in bloom between February and May. Milly's estimated height in two years is 80-90cm. Her typical lifespan is 10-15 years.

Plant height: 50-60cm. Pot size: 3L

Milly is happiest in a mixture of sun and shade, although with enough watering, she will be happy in a sunny spot too. She loves acidic soil so make sure she is planted with ericaceous compost.

As Milly can be rattled by the wind, she prefers a sheltered spot if there's one going.

Looking after this plant

Add a liquid fertiliser to her compost in late spring to help promote growth. This is also the best time to give her a good trim - camellias form their new flower buds in late summer and autumn so make sure it is before then. If she's to be planted in one of our 30cm pots, she'll need one of these 40L bags of ericaceous compost.
