If you’re new to growing plants outside and don’t know where to start, the answer is: start here. Make life easy for yourself with plants that require very little care but will still look impressive. The set is available with or without decorative pots.
The set without pots includes:
Ivy - A staple of the British garden, ivy is extremely easy to care for. She does well in sun or shade and while she grows best if you keep her soil moist, she won’t make a fuss if you’re a bit forgetful on the watering. You can let her stems tumble out of her pot, put her in a hanging pot or place her against a wall and watch her grow up it. If she grows bigger than you’d like, just chop her back as needed. It won’t bother her at all.
Fats - The delightfully named fatsia japonica looks high-maintenance but isn’t at all. He’s got enormous glossy leaves, which give any space an instant tropical feel. He’s fine in shade or sun. He’d prefer his soil to stay quite moist, rather than dry, and he’s not keen on strong wind. Other than that, he’ll look after himself.
Mae - With her big, showy leaves, there’s a hint of glamour about the fan palm. She looks like she belongs by a beach, but she’ll be very happy on your patio or balcony. She likes a spot that’s quite sunny, but she’s not fussy on water. She’ll manage well through dry spells.
The set with pots includes:
Reservoir pots - These clever pots hold water in a hidden reservoir, so your plants won’t dry out. It’s an actual life-saver.
